Initial Session

Session will be held in a public location in Lakewood, WA
The Initial Training Session is the beginning point to any of our training programs. This session is where we will not only breakdown your dog’s behavioral problems, but we will immediately come up with a plan to get you and your dog on the right path. The training starts immediately! We will begin to teach you the fundamentals, give you the tools necessary to begin the process, and recommend a program that will be the best fit for you and your dog. *This session is a requirement prior to acceptance into any of our programs.
How it works
Getting to know you and your dog
During this session you will meet with one of our trainers in a public location. The session is usually held in an open parking lot. Our trainers have chosen this type of learning environment over local parks because it makes it easier for both dogs and owners to learn new skills and succeed. Pavement holds less smells than grassy areas, making it easier for your dog to pay attention.
Diagnosis and Matching to Program
During this session our trainers will breakdown your dogs behaviors, how to start working on them and what habits owners can begin changing back at home.
Once our trainers have assessed the dogs behaviors, along with the owners current relationship with their dog, they will then be matched to the best program that can get them closer to their goals, along with giving the owners realistic expectations.
Our team of professionals are ALWAYS transparent. Dogs are animals, not robots. Every dog is different, has a different genetic background, and learns at a different pace.
It is crucial for owners to be open minded and understand that there will need to be BIG changes back home, both prior and post program.
Training is a team effort between Owners, Trainers and the dog.
Moving forward and Assigning Homework
In order to get the most out of our programs, our trainers will be assigning homework for owners to work on prior to sending the dog to our training program.
Owners have to be ready to be involved.
Educating and empowering owners is our ultimate goal. We love to see our owners understand WHY they are doing something, HOW to do it and WHEN.
FAQ for the Initial Session
All Initial Sessions are held in Lakewood, WA in the Lakewood Towne Center.
Unfortunately we do not offer in home evaluations. All Initial Sessions and Evaluations are held in Lakewood, WA.
Family members that live with the dog in the same home are welcome to attend the session. This will help with ensuring there is consistency in the training.
Initial Sessions are usually 1.5 hours long, but depending on the dog and severity of behavioral issues, can sometimes go up to 2 hours.
Our trainers are experts in reading and understanding dog behavior. They may see minor to major behavioral issues that typically have never been seen/ brought to your attention by anyone else.
All of these things will be discussed at your Initial Session.
